What are the benefits of the Low Rate Credit Card?

The Low Rate Credit Card has been designed for customers who want a basic, no frills line of credit with lower interest and fees.

Can I have additional cardholders?

Yes, you can add up to nine additional cardholders at no extra cost!

Platinum Credit Card

Although the Platinum Credit Card is no longer for sale, existing Platinum Credit Cardholders can continue to enjoy all the features and benefits of the card.

How can existing Platinum Credit Card cardholders earn and redeem Platinum Rewards points?

If you’re an existing Platinum Credit Card cardholder, you can earn rewards points every time you make a purchase. You will earn one Platinum point for every $1 you spend on purchases.

Your Platinum Rewards points are available through Great Southern Bank Online Banking. Simply log on to online banking, click ‘Actions’ on your credit card, and choose ‘View rewards’.

You can redeem from a wide range of rewards, including gift cards, merchandise, travel, flights, and more.

Can I have additional cardholders?

Yes, you can add up to nine additional cardholders at no extra cost!

What is covered by the complimentary travel insurance?

Existing Platinum Credit Card cardholders may be eligible for the following covers*:

  • International Travel Insurance
  • Purchase Protection Insurance.

How do I claim on my travel insurance?

The first thing to do is check that you’re entitled to make a claim. Refer to your Great Southern Bank Platinum Credit Cards – Complimentary Insurances Policy Information Booklet (particularly Part D) to see exactly what is and isn’t covered.

If you’re making a claim on your International Travel Insurance, the easiest way to claim is by using the Allianz Global Assistance online claims portal. For Purchase Protection Insurance claims, please contact the Allianz Global Assistance team:

How do I manage my Platinum Credit Card?

Existing Platinum Credit Card cardholders can continue to reset their pin and reduce their credit limit through online banking.

Simply log in to your online banking account and visit the card controls tab to view your card management options.

Changes to your Great Southern Bank Platinum Credit Card Terms and Conditions

Effective 7 August 2024

The Platinum Credit Cards – Terms and Conditions document has now been made into two separate documents: Great Southern Bank Platinum Credit Cards – Complimentary Insurances Policy Information Booklet and Great Southern Bank Platinum Rewards – Terms & Conditions.

We’ve also made updates to the Great Southern Bank Platinum Credit Cards – Complimentary Insurances Policy Information Booklet. The key changes are outlined below.

What are the key changes?

There are no changes to the Platinum Rewards component, which is presented in the Great Southern Bank Platinum Rewards – Terms & Conditions document.

The key changes to the Great Southern Bank Platinum Credit Cards – Complimentary Insurances Policy Information Booklet are outlined below.

Changes have been made to make the booklet easier to read, clarify the steps you should take if you think you need to make a claim, and it now highlights the importance of taking reasonable care and precautions (e.g. by safeguarding your covered items or valuables).

Great Southern Bank Platinum Credit Cards – Complimentary Insurances Policy Information Booklet

  • Notification period: We’ve updated how much notice we’ll give you if the Group Policy is changed or terminated. This will generally be 30 days’ notice except in certain situations (e.g. where the change is favourable to you or where it does not change the insurance cover).
  • Definitions: We’ve updated or added various definitions including:
    • added definition of ‘Group Policy’
    • added definition of ‘pregnancy related’
    • added definition of ‘proof of your ownership and value’
    • updated definition of ‘dependant’
    • updated definition of ‘pre-existing medical condition’
    • updated definition of ‘reasonable’

    These definitions should be read in conjunction with the relevant section of the Policy Information Booklet.

  • International Travel Insurance:
    • Updates to eligibility for cardholders including a requirement to meet all of the following criteria:
      • you reside in Australia (including holders of a visa issued under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) which entitles the holder of the visa to residency);
      • before leaving Australia, you spend at least $500 on your prepaid travel costs e.g. your return overseas travel ticket, your prepaid overseas accommodation, your prepaid cruise, travel or tour, and you charge these costs to the accountholder’s card account; and
      • you have a return overseas travel ticket before you leave Australia.
    • Updates to eligibility criteria for spouses and dependants.
    • Inclusion of cover if you or your travel companion are diagnosed with a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic (such as COVID-19) under selected benefits.
  • Updates to the benefits and benefit limits
    • The benefit limits table below sets out the new amounts and maximum limits of what Allianz Global Assistance will pay under each section of this insurance. The cover described in the table below is a summary only. The cover available is outlined in the Policy Information Booklet and is subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions limits and applicable sub-limits.

  • Limitation of cover: The limitation of cover section has been updated to clarify that Allianz Global Assistance won’t provide cover or be liable to pay any claim or provide a benefit where doing so would risk breaching any international laws, sanctions or regulations.
  • Transit Accident Insurance: This insurance is being removed entirely. This means you won’t be covered under this insurance for an event that occurs on or after 7 August 2024.

What you need to do
