Privacy at Great Southern Bank

As a customer-owned business, respecting your right to privacy is especially important to us. You can find information in our Group Privacy Policy on:

  • Our information handling practices, including what information we collect and why we need it.
  • How we handle and protect your personal information, including credit-related information.
  • How you can access and correct your personal information.
  • What you can do if you think we have breached your privacy.

If you are a Business+ Banking customer, you can find information in our Business+ Banking Privacy notice.

Your credit score

If you apply for a loan with us, we will request a copy of your credit report from one or more credit reporting bodies. We will also share information with them on an ongoing basis once a loan has been approved and funded.  For more details on how credit reporting works in Australia and the type of information shared, please see our Comprehensive Credit Reporting page.

You have the right to request credit reporting bodies not to use your credit reporting information for the purposes of pre-screening or direct marketing by us.  You also have the right to request each credit reporting body not to use or disclose credit reporting information about you if you reasonably believe that you have been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud.

The Consumer Data Right

The Consumer Data Right (CDR) is a government initiative that aims to give you more control over information that your service providers hold about you.

CDR was first rolled out in the banking sector under the name of ‘Open Banking’. This initiative is expanding to other sectors such as telecommunications and utilities providers.

You can find more information on Open Banking including our CDR Policy here. This includes information on how to access or correct your information, how to make a complaint, and how we manage complaints.

Please reach out to us if you have any privacy-related questions not answered above. You can contact the Privacy Office directly at privacy@gsb.com.au.
