Standards and Poor’s

On 22 May 2017, ratings agency Standard and Poors (S&P) lowered the ratings of 23 Australian Financial Institutions including Credit Union Australia. The S&P downgrade was based on external factors citing the build up of economic imbalances in the operating environment with focus on rising private sector debt.

S&P downgraded Credit Union Australia’s long term credit rating from BBB+ to BBB with a stable outlook. For more information visit www.standardandpoors.com.

Moody's Investor Services

On the 19 June 2017 Moody's Investors Service downgraded the Baseline Credit Assessments (BCAs), long-term ratings and Counterparty Risk Assessments (CRAs) of 12 Australian banks and their affiliates, reflecting elevated risks in the household sector. These elevated risks where captured in Moody's Macro Profile for Australia, which was lowered to "Strong +" from "Very Strong --".
