Our culture is built on collaboration, inclusivity, and a shared commitment to excellence. You'll love how it feels to belong at Great Southern Bank.

With over 1,200 team members throughout Australia, we value diversity and believe it’s the unique differences, ideas, backgrounds, and experiences of our people that help us deliver great experiences for our customers and the communities we operate in.

Our Commitment

Great Southern Bank is committed to embracing the diversity of our people and providing an environment that is fair, accessible, flexible, and inclusive for everyone regardless of background, sexual orientation, disability, or any other personal characteristic that make our people unique.

We extend this commitment to all areas of our business and decision-making, ensuring we can attract, retain, develop, reward and support our people to thrive at work and reach their full potential.

“We have so many different support groups for all kinds of diverse backgrounds, and we celebrate Lunar New Year, Diwali, and all sorts of other occasions. It makes me feel comfortable to be myself here; I don’t need to try to be someone else to fit in. That’s one of the reasons why I love working here - I feel valued regardless of my background or ethnicity.”

Belonging

Creating a work environment where everyone feels included and supported is very important to us.

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) support the sense of belonging and are a network of team members who connect and play an active role in building an inclusive culture. We have three active ERGs, each sponsored by an Executive Committee member:

  • Gender Balance (Gender Equity and Flexibility)
  • Pride Tribe (LGBTIQ+ and Allies)
  • Cultures Connected (Cultural Diversity)

Inclusion Council

Our Inclusion Council is led by our CEO and made up of our Executive Committee. They play a key role in creating strategic accountability for results connected to business outcomes, providing guidance and promoting successes across the organisation.

We are proud to be recognised as an Inclusive Employer through the Diversity Council of Australia and are a member of Pride in Diversity.
