Our Commitment
Great Southern Bank is committed to embracing the diversity of our people and providing an environment that is fair, accessible, flexible, and inclusive for everyone regardless of background, sexual orientation, disability, or any other personal characteristic that make our people unique.
We extend this commitment to all areas of our business and decision-making, ensuring we can attract, retain, develop, reward and support our people to thrive at work and reach their full potential.
“We have so many different support groups for all kinds of diverse backgrounds, and we celebrate Lunar New Year, Diwali, and all sorts of other occasions. It makes me feel comfortable to be myself here; I don’t need to try to be someone else to fit in. That’s one of the reasons why I love working here - I feel valued regardless of my background or ethnicity.”

Belonging
Creating a work environment where everyone feels included, respected and supported is essential to how we work at Great Southern Bank
Our Culture & Inclusion Employee Resource Group (ERG) plays a central role in nurturing this sense of belonging. It provides a platform for team members to influence real change—amplifying the values and behaviours that matter most and accelerating cultural momentum from within. The ERG is a network of people who are passionate about fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment—and who have the opportunity to shape our culture in a meaningful and strategic way.
The ERG helps bring our values to life by:
- Championing inclusion initiatives that matter to our people
- Fostering awareness, dialogue, and connection
- Supporting progress through engagement, events and storytelling
Together, we’re building a workplace where people feel safe to be themselves, supported to thrive, and connected by purpose.
Inclusion Council
Our Inclusion Council is led by our CEO and made up of our Executive Committee. They play a key role in creating strategic accountability for results connected to business outcomes, providing guidance and promoting successes across the organisation.
We are proud to be recognised as an Inclusive Employer through the Diversity Council of Australia and are a member of Pride in Diversity.
