Great Southern Bank launches third Reconciliation Action Plan

9 July 2026

Great Southern Bank has launched its third Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), reaffirming its commitment to advancing reconciliation and creating meaningful financial and housing outcomes for First Nations peoples, communities and businesses.

The Bank’s Innovate RAP was officially launched at an event in Brisbane hosted by senior bank executives, alongside representatives from Reconciliation Australia, a Traditional Custodian delivering the Welcome to Country, Great Southern Bank partners including Mission Australia and First Nations Foundation, and members of the Bank’s RAP Working Group.

The RAP features original artwork titled Winanga-Li ("to hear, listen, know and remember"), created by proud Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri artist Sean Kinchela. The artwork serves as a visual representation of the Bank's commitment to listening, learning and taking meaningful action alongside First Nations peoples and communities.

Great Southern Bank CEO and Managing Director Paul Lewis said the Bank’s third RAP builds on the foundations established through its previous Reflect and Innovate RAPs.

“As we developed our third Reconciliation Action Plan, we took the opportunity to pause, reflect and consider where we can make the greatest difference,” Mr Lewis said.

“We chose to remain at the Innovate level so we can embed the commitments already underway and ensure they deliver meaningful outcomes for First Nations peoples, communities and businesses.

“We are focused on improving financial and housing outcomes through initiatives and partnerships that strengthen cultural capability, employment, procurement and financial education.

“This plan reflects our commitment to being purposeful in where we focus our efforts, authentic in how we work alongside First Nations peoples, and accountable for the impact we create.”
