Great Southern Bank receives global recognition as an Exceptional Workplace

2 April 2024

Great Southern Bank has received the prestigious Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award for 2024, as the bank continues to build engagement and create a workplace where its people can thrive.

The bank has maintained strong engagement over three years, while concurrently transforming its purpose, brand and culture. Recognition as a Gallup Exceptional Workplace places the bank among an elite group only 60 companies worldwide receiving this award for 2024.

Tracey Lake, Chief People Officer at Great Southern Bank, said: “We’re proud of building and maintaining a highly engaged workforce through a period of significant change for the bank.

“Our success comes down to our people, and especially our leaders who have helped navigate their people through the transformation, ensuring they understand the changes and how their roles connect to our purpose.”

Other contributing factors included:

  • Increasing learning and development programs such as new career pathways for team members in branches;
  • Realigning the bank’s values and behaviours; and
  • Providing team members with the opportunity to regularly have their say and action plan to drive improved customer and business outcomes.

“Creating a great place to work for our team members has enabled the bank to provide great experiences for our customers every day and stay focused on delivering our organisational growth strategy,” Ms Lake said.

Having a highly engaged workforce has positively impacted the bank’s performance and ability to deliver exceptional customer experiences, with customers rating the bank highly on its Net Promoter Score*.

“Continuing to build engagement and a workplace culture where our people can thrive remains a key focus and integral part of our business strategy,” Ms Lake said.

*Net Promoter Scores measures how likely a customer is to recommend a bank or service.
