Our customers
We expanded our support for home buyers and launched innovative products, increasing our home lending by 7.6% to $18.78 billion during the financial year, while growing and evolving our small business offering.
Independently, we were acknowledged by leading research organisations as among Australia’s most trusted banks, and received multiple awards, including Canstar’s Customer Owned Bank of the Year for Savings for the eleventh consecutive year.
Our team members
For the third-year running, we have been recognised with the Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award, placing us among just 78 organisations worldwide recognised for exceptional workplace culture.
Our new Enterprise Agreement uplifts our team, providing remuneration increases and enhanced leave benefits that support greater work–life balance.
Our community
We committed to expand our partnership with Mission Australia through a new three-year agreement (2026–2029), including an additional $3 million investment to support Australians in community housing.
To further reconciliation in Australia, we completed our 2023–25 Innovate RAP, delivering all actions endorsed by Reconciliation Australia, and launched our third RAP in June.
The environment
We progressed our 2025–28 Climate Transition Plan, advancing actions to meet our net zero commitment, manage climate-related risks and opportunities, support customers to purchase electric vehicles and help communities reduce energy costs.
A further nine branches transitioned to renewable energy or GreenPower in FY2026, bringing the total to 25, and keeping us on track to achieve our 100% renewable electricity target by 2030.
Our partners
We continued our partnership with Carlton Football Club to deliver the Loorende-gat Business and Entrepreneur Program, supporting First Nations business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Through our partnership with leading fintech Constantinople, we significantly grew our small business customer base and strengthened our offering with new products and a compelling savings proposition.
Case study: Helping Australians achieve home ownership
From a young age Tish knew she wanted to own a home with character in a social and connected community. Thanks to a loan from Great Southern Bank, she bought exactly that - her first home, and happy place, in Southwest Victoria.
A retail job at a young age kickstarted Tish’s savings for her first home deposit. Now, just over a decade later she’s using those same savings skills to confidently manage her home loan.
“I like to say the house was made for me,” says Tish. “I love a retro vibe, and it has a lot of charm. It’s also a sturdy, well-built home. It really felt like me in a nutshell.”
Case study: Connecting more Australians to their home goals
After 12 years as a home lender at our Chermside branch, Jasmine is helping more Australians achieve their home ownership goals as the first member of our newly formed virtual lending team.
The team supports customers who prefer to complete their home ownership journey with us online, providing expert guidance and personalised support every step of the way. For Jasmine, it also suits her need to work flexibly, meeting customer needs while balancing a busy family life.
“Life can get busy, so this new way of supporting customers makes it more convenient to meet at a time and place that suits them,” Jasmine says.
