1. Before you begin

We’ll be using Great Southern Bank's fast new digital membership application today. Here are a few things you should know:

  • By proceeding you agree to your personal information being collected, used and disclosed in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
  • To speed things up, we'd like to verify your identification electronically. Please read Section 2 below – we need your consent before proceeding with electronic verification.
  • Have your driver's licence, passport or Medicare card handy in case they are needed.
  • If you are applying for an eSaver Reward, eSaver Extra, eSaver Flexi or Term Deposit account, you also agree to open an accompanying Everyday transaction account with a Visa Debit card.
  • If you are applying to open a Youth eSaver account and are aged 10 or over, then you also agree to open an accompanying Everyday Youth account with eftpos Debit Card (minimum age 10) or Visa Debit card (minimum age 14).

2. Consent to electronic identity verifcation

We will try to identify you electronically by searching available online records including those of credit reporting bodies. Doing this won't leave a mark on your credit file.

By continuing, you consent to:

  • Personal information you've provided being checked against records of government agencies or other entities.
  • Great Southern Bank disclosing your name, residential address and date of birth to one or more credit reporting bodies and requesting credit reporting body(s) to provide an assessment of whether the personal information you provided to us matches (in whole or in part) personal information contained in their records;
  • Credit reporting body(s) preparing and providing us with an Assessment. The credit reporting body may use your personal information, and personal information it holds, including the names, residential addresses and dates of birth of other individuals, for the purposes of preparing the Assessment;
  • Great Southern Bank advising you if we are unable to verify your identity based on the Assessment by a credit reporting body. We will only use the Assessment we receive from a credit reporting body for the purpose of verifying your identity as required by the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006. If you don't consent to having your identity verified electronically, we will need to process your application in branch.

3. Declarations

I am aged 18 or over, am a resident of Australia and agree to:

  • Become a Great Southern Bank Member (if not already a member) and open the account(s) I have applied for.
  • A Visa Debit card or eftpos Debit Card being ordered for my everyday transaction account (as requested).
  • Being bound by Great Southern Bank's General Information, Terms & Conditions and Schedule of Fees.
  • Register for Online Banking access (if requested).
  • Receive statements and notices electronically (if requested). Great Southern Bank will email me to tell me when these are available in Online Banking. Great Southern Bank will not send me paper statements or notices, except where the law requires. I will check the nominated email account regularly and let Great Southern Bank know if my email address changes. I can change to paper statements at any time by contacting Great Southern Bank.

By submitting this application, I declare that any information I have provided to Great Southern Bank is true and correct.

If a parent / guardian is to be a signatory on a child's account, I also agree to the additional conditions for youth accounts directly below.

4. Additional conditions for youth accounts

Child over 10

  • I authorise my parent / guardian to be a signatory on my account (if requested).

Parent / Guardian

  • I am a parent /guardian of the child and will provide proof of this upon request by Great Southern Bank.
  • I agree to be a signatory on the account and in consideration of Great Southern Bank allowing me to operate on the account, I agree to indemnify and keep indemnified Great Southern Bank against all claims (including any claim made by the account holder), obligations, liabilities, expenses, losses, damages and costs that Great Southern Bank may sustain or incur as a result of any transaction carried out by me on the account.
  • If the child account holder is under 10, I acknowledge that:

    • I am agreeing to the above on behalf of myself and the child account holder;
    • I authorise the opening of the account for the child;
    • the child cannot personally transact on the account, have a debit card or online banking;
    • once the child turns 10, the child is able to use the account independently;
    • the child can appoint or remove a parent / guardian as a signatory to the account at any time after they turn 10.
  • In addition to being a signatory on the child’s account, I agree to become a member and open my own everyday transaction account with Visa Debit card (if not already a member).
