Rob Goudswaard
B.Ec, GradDip CorpFin, FFIN, FAICD
Chief Executive Officer

Rob joined CUA in February 2015 and attends all CUA Board and Committee meetings. He is an Executive Director of Credicorp Insurance Pty Ltd, CUA Health Ltd and CUA Management Pty Ltd and Chairman of Credicorp Finance Pty Ltd.

Rob has over 36 years’ experience in the banking and financial sector. Prior to joining CUA, he was CEO and Director of the Rural Finance Corporation of Victoria, and Chairman of the Young Farmer’s Finance Council. He has held a variety of senior positions at ANZ including CRO, Institutional Global; Managing Director, Regional, Rural & Small Business Banking; General Manager, Pacific & Personal Banking Asia and COO, Small to Medium Business Australia & New Zealand.

Rob is a Director of Cuscal Ltd and is a former Director of World Vision Australia (2008-2017).


Chief Financial Officer

Steve joined CUA in April 2015. He is a Director of Credicorp Insurance Pty Ltd, Credicorp Finance Pty Ltd, CUA Health Ltd and Chairman of CUA Management Pty Ltd.

In addition to managing CUA’s financial operations, his role includes responsibility for the corporate strategy, project management and enterprise data functions.

Steve has more than 20 years’ experience in banking operations in Australia. He has extensive experience in building teams and working with them to deliver positive customer outcomes and strong returns. He has held a variety of executive and management roles with ANZ across multiple customer segments including General Manager, Esanda & ANZ Direct Sales, and Queensland State Manager of Regional Business Banking.

Steve’s previous roles have involved understanding and meeting the needs of a diverse range of customers such as third party dealers, agricultural and commercial clients, corporate and retail customers.


Chief Digital Officer

Sue joined CUA in May 2010 and has been responsible for leading the implementation of all major strategic business and technology programs in that time, including the replacement of core banking, online banking and loan origination systems. Having successfully implemented a range of new technology capabilities, Sue's role is now focused on delivering CUA’s digital and innovation strategies and designing new products and services to enhance the member experience.

Sue brings over 30 years’ experience in financial services across a broad range of senior management and executive positions, within Australia and the UK. Sue successfully delivered a number of transformational change programs for HBOS and BankWest as well as managing large-scale back-office processing areas, digital, products and strategy development teams.

Sue has also recently completed the Executive Leadership Program at Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Chief Operating Officer – Subsidiaries, Partnerships & Alliances
Chief Executive Officer, CUA Health Ltd

Philip joined CUA in March 2011. He is a Director of Mutual Marketplace and Credicorp Finance Pty Ltd.

He leads the division responsible for CUA subsidiaries CUA Health and Credicorp, as well as managing key partnerships including those with insurance provider Allianz and payments provider Cuscal. He also has responsibility for corporate services, procurement and IT operations and support functions within CUA.

Prior to his role as CEO of CUA Health Ltd, Philip was CUA’s Head of Finance, responsible for board, regulatory and business performance.

Philip developed his experience and career as Group Financial Controller and Head of Finance in some of the UK’s leading asset managers and general insurance providers. Moving to Australia in 2008, he spent time as CFO for a private equity-owned entity, before moving to a major Queensland superannuation provider as Head of Finance, assuming responsibility for corporate finance and corporate services.


Chief of Corporate Affairs & Community

Jo joined CUA in January 2016 and is responsible for leading the public affairs and communications, brand and sponsorships and community engagement functions within CUA. Her role is also responsible for embedding a renewed purpose-led direction for CUA. This includes a strategy to increase community investment and roll-out new initiatives focused on strengthening communities, by working together with stakeholders and partners to deliver ‘mutual good’ for members and CUA.

Jo has more than 15 years’ experience across a range of leadership, strategy, stakeholder management and project management roles within the finance, insurance, retail and government sectors.

Her previous roles have included General Manager of HR Strategy and Operations for a major Australian retail group, seven years’ experience in leadership and project management for a regional banking and insurance provider and four years’ in public policy, stakeholder and employee relations for the Queensland Government.

Chief People Officer

Tracey joined CUA in March 2017 and is responsible for leading the CUA People and Culture strategy to build future capability and drive a high-performing, networked organisation. Her team looks after the delivery of People and Culture services and initiatives across organisational development and capability, performance management, culture and engagement, diversity, talent acquisition, remuneration and benefits, workplace relations, workplace health, safety and well-being.

Tracey has 12 years’ experience as a human resources executive, with a breadth of human resources and leadership experience including roles at Allianz Global Assistance, Insurance Australia Group, CGU Insurance and The Consultancy Bureau. Tracey’s experience covers both strategic and operational aspects of human resources including recruitment, talent management, change management, learning and development, employee engagement, OH&S, restructures and integrations.

In her most recent role at Allianz Global Assistance, Tracey was Executive General Manager, People Culture & Community and Strategic Projects, playing an integral role in contributing to the strategic plan and operational performance of the business.

Tracey Lake replaced Sonia La Penna, who held this position until December 2016.

Chief Operations & Products Officer

Brigid joined CUA in August 2015. Brigid’s team are accountable for products, marketing and member services including consumer lending, deposit and card management. She also has carriage of operations strategy, member experience and advocacy, business re-engineering and support. These teams all work together to continually improve the member experience at CUA.

Brigid has over 30 years’ experience in financial services, including 20 years in operations strategy and execution. She has lived and worked in four countries and has significant experience in transformational change and business re-engineering. She also has a strong background in distribution strategy, credit and operational risk management and program management.

Brigid’s previous roles have included Head of Distribution Strategy for Bank of New Zealand, Chief Manager, Operations for ANZ New Zealand, Managing Director of Quest, Fiji (an award-winning subsidiary of ANZ) and Portfolio Change Director, Retail Distribution for ANZ in Australia.

Chief Risk Officer

Megan joined CUA in February 2017 and leads the development, implementation, challenge and assurance of CUA’s risk management strategy. The risk team’s focus is to proactively drive a culture of best practice risk management.

Megan is an enthusiastic advocate for CUA’s role in the community and outside of work, she is passionate about supporting local issues and volunteering.

An experienced risk and finance professional with more than 20 years’ experience, much of Megan’s career has been with Macquarie Group and Suncorp Bank. Her career began in lending and she has a deep understanding of financial services, having also worked across a variety of other roles in credit assurance and credit policy, Treasury and capital management and risk.

More recently, Megan has held executive positions with responsibility for areas including the management of capital, forecasting, business performance and enterprise-wide initiatives associated with the Basel regulatory framework and prudential banking standards. Megan is currently the Treasurer of the Risk Management Association of Australia - a post she has held since 2014.

Megan Readdy replaced Scott North, who held this position until February 2017.


Chief Sales Officer

Andy joined CUA in July 2013 and has led the Sales and member services functions at CUA since March 2015. He is responsible for leading CUA’s sales channels (branches, CUA Direct call centres in Sydney and Melbourne, and the broker channel). In addition to sales and service, Andy is responsible for ensuring strategic projects are effectively rolled out and embedded across the retail network to deliver positive outcomes for members and CUA’s frontline teams.

Andy has 30 years’ experience in retail financial services with the last 20 years in sales and service leadership roles. His career began at a large UK mutual which became Halifax PLC, before establishing third party lending for Barclays UK. He led the transformation of Barclays Bank Retail African operations and the purchase and integration of South Africa’s largest retail bank ABSA.

In Australia, Andy headed Branch Performance at a major Australian Bank with accountability for 150 branches and a mortgage sales team of 50.

Andy has management and leadership qualifications at Warwick Business School and completed the Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
